Time Management and Planning

You may be asking, why I would pick a topic like this to talk on. Well, let me tell you all about it. I am learning about managing my time and my resources (my energy and my time). As always I learn and share.

I should also take this opportunity to let you know that I, yes me, did a small photo shoot yesterday with my niece. I hate taking pictures. You know how everybody has a good side, I have none and I am serious, I have no right side or wrong side. I just have a side. This is my idea of coming out of my comfort zone and me managing what I have - ME

Special Shout out to my niece Sarah who took the pictures they are all fabulous See this one:

Anyways back to my title "Time Management and Planning"

I have always wondered about the people who only align themselves with the people who can take them places and I used to call these people "spongers" yes I was young once. As I got older I realised that these so-called "Spongers" are way ahead of me in the game. So I got to thinking, what is it they do that I don't?

I then started to research the tips and tricks of Time Management and Planning of Influencers and Successful people in Business. The following is what I learnt:

According to The Enterprise Center Blog on Time Management, there is a reason why some people are better at handling their stuff than some of us and these are

1. They know and Understand the difference between what is Urgent and what is Important. The Urgent thing means that it must be dealt with now, however, there may be no consequence to not dealing with it immediately. While the Important thing has far-reaching consequences if not dealt with NOW.

2. They keep their surrounding Clear of the Clutter - Clean up the desk, get rid of all the junk and keep it simple. This way you can get to what has to be done quickly and easily.

3. They Learn what is their most productive time - do the hardest task during this time. For most people, it may be early in the morning, for me, it's about mid-morning.

I also especially like the Entrepreneur article by guest writer Jennifer Spencer,  on this topic, the one quote that stuck with me was by Alex Charfen (the truth be told, I have never heard of him before this research) and so we Googled him for you and me😊. Check this link for his website and all about him and his business

The author spoke to him about his favourite Time Management and Planning tricks and he had this to say

"Plan Your Work and Work Your Plan"
He said it's important to create a plan to have something to monitor yourself with daily. A 30 days plan and a 90 days plan. He said, that this is important so that you can be intentional in your work.  How brilliant is this right?

In summary, you must be much more intentional with your work. Know what you want your outcome to be and align all your resources to making this happen. And by resources I mean time and energy, especially for us just starting out with only time and energy at our disposal.  Also, I think having a routine helps to keep you focused and grounded. Have a to-do list is one of the ways I try to maintain a routine. Using what you have wisely and resourcefully is essential in staying in the game.

How do you manage your time and planning? I would love to hear from you.
